Intelligent Surveillance Camera

I can't get my head around this product by a company called "VideoIQ". I read about it on MIT's Technology Review and then visited their website where they explain how they have designed a smart camera especially for surveillance applications. It comes with upto 160 GB of onboard storage where the video footage is recorded at low resolution until an 'event' like an intrusion or trespassing puts it into high resolution mode, thus economizing on memory and bandwidth usage.

The following video shows off an impressing feature - click and search - this helps you to use facial recognition techniques to easily search for faces from footage from multiple cameras.

Another video shows a real (?) intrusion by carjackers being stopped in its tracks.

Really impressive technology in this one. Love the product and love the marketing ! More videos are available on their site.
